Our History

The Credit Union was founded in 1961; it was called the Civil Service Credit Union Ltd. In 1985 the government decided to split the Department of Posts & Telegraphs into two separate companies, An Post and Telecom Eireann. With 90% of the membership employed in the telecommunications side of the Department it was decided that the credit union would be named Telecom Eireann Staff Credit Union Ltd. The Credit Union continued to expand, in 1995 the building at 55 Dawson Street, D2 was purchased. Lots of changes took place within the credit union in 2002, the credit unions name changed to ESCCU credit union Ltd, a new computerized account system was installed and the introduction of Euro.

ESCCU Credit Union is run by a Board of Directors, appointed at the AGM, who oversee all the operations of the Credit Union, and the day-to-day managing is conducted by a team of efficient, dedicated full-time workers. Now, ESCCU Credit Union has assets of over €195 million and the membership is continuing to grow at a tremendous rate. It stands as a testament to the dedication and work of volunteers, directors, staff and managers over the years that helped to make it what it is today.
